Best Fall Wheat Beer for Harvest Season

Best Fall Wheat Beers for Harvest Season, including Straight-Up Hefe-Weizen
Wheat beers are one of our favorite fall go-to’s. After all, it is harvest season. While “wheat beer” is an extremely broad category, you can expect wheat beers to be wheaty (big surprise there) and sometimes feature spices, herbs and fruit notes. The three main categories of wheat beers are witbiers, the Belgian variety, weissbier, the German variety, and the relatively new American Pale Wheat Ales, which are typically American spins on hefeweizens.

Without further ado, here’s what we’ll be sipping on this autumn. These are the best fall wheat beers for harvest season!

DreamWeaver Wheat – Troegs Brewing Company

This is as fresh-tasting as it gets. Troegs’ DreamWeaver Wheat is a wheat ale that has all of the flavors of a traditional American wheat with an unexpected tart and hop kick. It’s juicy and hop-driven, with grass, citrus and wheat notes. You could say it’s the stuff of dreams.

Bottom Up Wit – Revolution Brewing

As you can probably get from the name, Revolution’s Bottom Up Wit is incredibly drinkable. It’s bursting with flavors, including spice, citrus, pepper, clove, wheat, and coriander notes. The mouthfeel is crisp and smooth, just like a chilly autumn afternoon. Cheers!

Autumn Wheat Ale – Mayflower Brewing Company

Autumn is all about comfort, and Mayflower Brewing doesn’t disappoint with their Autumn Wheat. You’ll taste warming dark chocolate, dark toasted wheat and caramel flavors with every sip. It’s definitely a unique brew with a smooth and comforting mouthfeel. If you need a pick-me-up on a chilly fall day, pick up a pack of these.

Oyster Weiss – Scratch Beer

The most unique wheat beer on our list, Scratch Beer’s Oyster Weiss is tart and savory. It’s brewed with oyster and turkey tail mushrooms paired with turmeric, apple and pear notes, along with a touch of allspice. As you can imagine, this wheat beer is comforting and complex with huge flavor. The unmalted wheat and mushrooms also give it a big body and mouthfeel for a unique drinking experience. You’ve got to check this one out.

Straight-Up Hefe-Weizen – Berghoff Beer

Classically unfiltered, our Straight-Up Hefe-Weizen is a delightfully drinkable fall indulgence. We use a Bavarian wheat beer yeast strain to provide our hefe with subtle layers of banana, bubblegum, and spicy clove notes, along with a creamy, tangy finish. The end result is a tantalizingly complex and delicious hefeweizen that you’ll have a hard time putting down.
